Every day, leaders achieve the extraordinary. Over 30 years ago Jim Kouzes and Barry Pozner set out to discover exactly how ordinary people accomplish great things.

They wrote the book that has stood the test of time to become the modern classic on leadership. More than 2 million people have read The Leadership Challenge®. This groundbreaking book which was first published over 25 years ago and is now in its fifth edition and the assessment tool which followed, The Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) are even more relevant today.

The LPI is recognised at the most widely used leadership assessment tool globally.

The Leadership Challenge is based on the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership:

  • Model the Way
  • Inspire a Shared Vision
  • Challenge the Process
  • Enable other to Act
  • Encourage the Heart

With each of the Five Practices are 2 specific commitments directly related to each Practice.

The course provides insight into how and why these practices and the commitments matter and how to apply them.

The LPI reports on how often participants are demonstrating those behaviours to others. How often others observe them showing these behaviours is a clear indicator of their leadership effectiveness – and what they can do to improve.

Over 30 years of evidence-based research continues to confirm that these Five Practices are at the core of Exemplary Leadership.

The Leadership Challenge leadership development program tracks and reports on organisational change as a result of participants attending the course.
